Product Description

Why Choose This Wide Knitted Mattress Binding Tape?

This wide knitted mattress binding tape is designed mainly for the side fabric area of mattresses and cut-and-sewn mattress covers.

Unlike center-fold mattress binding tape, this product has a wide knitted body with a folded section along each long edge. The middle section remains open and can form a visible part of the mattress side panel, while the folded edges provide cleaner sewing areas for connecting the upper and lower cover components.

The knitted construction provides flexibility for mattress corners and cover assembly. It is less rigid than a heavy woven structure and can follow the shape of the mattress side panel without creating an overly stiff border.

For zippered mattress covers, the tape can be used as part of the side-border construction. Depending on the cover design, its folded edges can be sewn to the upper panel, lower cover section, zipper tape or adjoining side fabric. It does not directly wrap around or replace the zipper.

At HengChang Webbing, different widths, colors, patterns, thicknesses and hand feels can be customized according to the application.

FAQ

Q1: Is this a center-fold mattress binding tape?

No. The middle section of this tape remains open and flat. A separate folded section is formed along each of the two long edges. This structure allows the wide center area to remain visible while the two folded edges are used as separate sewing and connection areas.

Q2: What is the purpose of the folded edges on both sides?

The folded edges provide cleaner sewing zones along the upper and lower sides of the tape. They can help control seam allowances, reduce exposed raw edges and create more defined connection lines during side-panel assembly.

Q3: What is the difference between this product and standard mattress binding tape?

Standard narrow mattress binding tape is mainly used to close and cover the seam between a mattress panel and border with a tape-edge machine. This product is much wider and has folded edges on both sides. It can function as part of the mattress side-border structure rather than simply wrapping around one finished mattress edge.

Q4: Will the wide knitted tape stretch or become wavy during sewing?

Knitted construction naturally provides more flexibility than a firm woven structure. However, excessive machine tension or uneven feeding may cause stretching or waviness. The tape firmness, finishing, folded-edge stability and machine settings should be tested with the actual side-panel materials before bulk production.
